The Model (2025)

The work explores the blurring of reality in an era where digital representation increasingly overshadows materiality. The looped video depicts me in a standard model outfit, mechanically rotated 360°, referencing the automatic, repetitive gestures performed during castings and computer renders, and suggesting the unreality of the representation.
The projection strips the body of materiality, reducing it to a digital representation. It is paired with a material object - a virtual model portfolio- showing images generated by a personalized AI model trained to replicate my face. The album is held by plastic hands, signaling the unreality of the images it contains and inverting the relationship between digital representation and the material body.
To ethically train the model, I performed a 3D scan of my face, transferred my face into Unreal Engine using MetaHuman, simulated different lighting conditions, and then captured screenshots, which I subsequently used to train the generative AI model.
